Christmas

I cannot believe it is 10 days away! Playing Santa has been a blast and I cannot wait for Christmas morning. Carter seems to know what to do with presents now as she successfully opened one last night.....

My sister, Meg, and I took Carter to get her Christmas photos done the long weekend of Thanksgiving. They turned out really cute. However, I really did not think we were going to get a photo this year. She would not sit next to the Christmas tree and fretted when an employee put his hand in the Santa costume to hold out her cookies. Well, as we come to find out, Carter wanted to sit in the chair and play with the cookies herself and when Meg and I realized that....that is when we got the great photos!

The attached picture is from her playing outside the studio...I unfortunately did not buy the cd from the place, just a picture package!

Carter is one!

Well September 27 has come (passed) and my little girl turned one! We celebrated with family and friends. She got lots if loving from both sides of the family. She loves her red wagon meme and poppy got her!

A crawler and a clapper!!

Both of these happened so fast....I have been clapping for Carter for awhile now and she would copy but it was always up and down arm movement....Saturday however.....we CLAPPED when I said "YEAHHHH!!).....she had the biggest smile on her face and was very, very proud of herself!

For about 4 weeks now, Carter has been pushing up to sitting from her tummy and every day since then we have been saying she will crawl tomorrow...we waited and waited and she FINALLY crawled on Monday!! Lordy she is so cute....she gets her hind legs going like a warm up and off she goes...and let me tell you..she has one speed and it is fast! Smiling the whole way...then she sits down and claps...

Love that little lady!

Mother's Day weekend!

Had an absolutely wonderful weekend....Trey got home early Friday...so early in fact that Carter and I were hiding upstairs trying to be quiet untill he spoke to confirm it was him.

Saturday started early with a little bit wanting to be snuggled and played with. She will just play in her crib until someone comes in a picks her up...no screaming or crying..just baby sounds of delight..melts my heart to wake up to that! Saturday that was around 5AM!

Later Saturday morning I did the Beach Blast 2011 5k race. I was very nervous about running in front of the "home" crowd. Everyone in town remembers my love of running and usually placing and I did not want to disappoint. I did not...I got a personal record (since high school) of 22:14 seconds. 5th women overall and 1st in my age group, but man there are some fast females out there! The best part of the day was having Trey and Carter at the finish line cheering!

Sunday was another 5 AM start with Carter wanting snuggles and hugs. Worn out from the previous day, I laid back down for a bit and woke up to Carter and Trey cooking pancakes. We walked and played all day...Best Mother's Day yet...

Wow! 7 Months!

Today at 6:21pm, Carter Elizabeth will officially be 7 Months! I cannot believe how fast my little girl has grown! April has been a whirl wind of a month. I blinked and it was time for the new month sticker I decorate her onsies with each month!.

Some of Carter Elizabeth's accomplishments this month, we sit unsupported and can correct herself if she starts to lean, she pulls toys towards her and looks for them when they disappear, and, most excitely, she has her 2 bottom teeth (PS..teething was no fun and it hurt me seeing her in pain)

She has been a busy little social butterfly also this month. She attended wedding showers, doctor appointments, and we joined a parent- tot swim class. Excuse the guard suit from 1996- The Y does not allow bikinis and this was all I could find!

Hair

Our hair is coming in....still very dark closest to the neck but blonde on top... We have been enjoying fun "Bed Head" hair do's lately. The picture below reminds me of a poem my mom, Carter's Grandmom sings to her. It is called "girl with a curl". She and Alfalfa would make a great team!

Gastro Doctor

We went for Carter's last Gastro Doctor visit Tuesday and there was nothing but GOOD news. She can come off the expensive Nutramigen formula at her 6-month mark and then at 6 month 2 weeks we can start alternating days on when she needs the acid reflux medicine! So relieved that her stomach is getting stronger.

He also told me that there was absolutely no need for her to be on solids till 6 months and that he would prefer her not to be since her stomach is sensitive. I was so happy to hear that because I made the desicion about 2 weeks prior not to give her solids till closer to the 6 month mark!

She weighed 14 pounds and 4 ounces with a wet diaper and clothes on! Carter was about 24 inches long!

Valentine's Day

Carter had a big Valentine's Day yesterday! She got her first rose from Mimi and Poppy. Mildred Andrew brought over a white teddy bear and a chocolate muffin. Leon and E surprised Carter with 2 new outfits, 2 books, teething rings, a ice cream rattle, pink shoes, socks, and a red and pink lion she has enjoyed talking to...

Though we did not do much for Valentine's Day, we had a good time playing with Carter!

Since I now have a little more time on my hands since the little bit is sleeping better, I thought I would create a website so friends can follow her accomplishments throughout Carter's first year....

I cannot believe how much Carter Elizabeth has grown/changed/learned in her first four months of life... Trey and I are truely lucky to have such a spirited little person in our lives! Enjoy!
